Scribbles 'N Bits

Scribbles 'N Bits is GCTE’s award-winning quarterly newsletter and a longstanding tradition within the Georgia English Language Arts community. Since its founding in the early 1980s, the newsletter has grown from a printed black-and-white bulletin to a dynamic digital publication that reflects the passion, creativity, and professionalism of ELA educators across the state.

Each issue features practical strategies, reflective essays, classroom snapshots, student writing, book reviews, and celebrations of teacher achievement. With its consistent focus on authentic teacher voice, Scribbles 'N Bits has been repeatedly recognized by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) with the Affiliate Newsletter of Excellence award—honors that affirm its role as a model publication for other state affiliates nationwide.

The newsletter is both a historical archive and a living document—preserving decades of innovation in ELA instruction while continuing to amplify current voices from Georgia classrooms. We encourage teachers, literacy leaders, and preservice educators alike to read, contribute, and engage. Whether you’re offering a resource, a reflection, or a question that others may relate to, your voice belongs in these pages.
